Jalmari Alho,together with his wife Saima, founded Alhon Huopatehdas in the village of Partala, near Jämsä, in 1927. The factory is still operating in the same place today.

The felt factory has been in the same family since it was founded and today the felt slippers are manufactured already in the fourth generation.

The long history can be felt in the courtyard where our factory outlet is located. In the same courtyard you will find the old brick factory buildings and warehouses built in the 1950s.

Alhon Huopatehdas is a family-owned company that has been handcrafting wool felt slippers since 1927. Our mission is to create high-quality Finnish felt products that combine nearly a century of craftsmanship, the exceptional properties of natural materials, and a commitment to sustainability.

Every product is made with care and skill, so our customers receive a genuine Finnish item – one that brings warmth and comfort to everyday life.

Visiting us is easy – our shop is located just a short distance from Highway 9. Our colorful and inviting Factory Shop is a true feast for the eyes – full of felt treasures, all made in the same courtyard using a unique method. The Factory Shop showcases our most popular seasonal items – and you may even find special limited editions that are not available anywhere else.

The air-conditioned Factory Shop also includes a café where you can enjoy homemade treats – and during the summer, scooped ice cream is also available. In the same courtyard, you’ll find our historic brick factory buildings and the Courtyard Shop, where we sell second-quality products and various felt materials. In the summer, you can also visit our small Yard Flea Market next to the Courtyard Shop.
